Disclosure of Information

Professional interviewing is not just about obtaining information, it is also about assessing the reliability of information. An effective way to do this is to ensure that the interviewee discloses their information before the interviewer reveals what they know. However, this is a difficult task and requires a plan for using the information that you have that complies with legal process, encourages the interviewee to disclose their information and allows you to test their recall of events.

In this session we explain the characteristics of information, outline various advantages and disadvantages of different information disclosure strategies and provide a framework for information disclosure based on its potential impact.
