Productive and risky questions

Failed cases and research have both shown that the way in which questions are asked in interviews has a big impact on the quality of an interview. Poor and unskilled questions affect the reliability of the information gathered while skilled and effective questions can help differentiate between truth tellers and liars.

Questions can be categorised into different types according to their intention and interviewers need an understanding of these classifications and definitions to ensure their own questioning is ethical and effective.
