Conversational mindset

Skilled interviewers are, first and foremost, skilled communicators and treat others how they would want to be treated. They show respect. They are non-judgemental and empathic. They take time, concentrate, listen attentively, and allow the people they are interviewing to speak freely.

These behaviours are driven by a fundamental aspect of their approach – their mindset – that influences the way in which they perceive both the situation and the person in front of them. In this session we explain conversational mindset and outline different speaking and listening behaviours that are indicative of a particular type of mindset. There is a handout for this session.
