Material timeframe
Every incident has a timeline that is relevant to the investigation, and which denotes the period across which investigators need to gather information. This period can include events both before and after the actual incident giving rise to an allegation. In our fictional excessive force case study this period commences with the call directing the Officer to attend Capitol Hill and ends with his submission of the report regarding what happened. This animated session explains the concept of the Material Timeframe and its relevance to interview planning and evaluation.
The final three sessions provide information on three Conversation Management acronyms – included in the handouts – designed to help interviewers with key areas of interviewing behaviour.
